Visit the Ljubljana Castle with a funicular
It offers breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and the protected area of Barje, the flat and swampy part of the Ljubljana area.
The renovated Ljubljana Castle can be reached on foot or by the funicular railway running from Krekov trg right to the castle. From the Castle Hill one can enjoy a magnificent view of the city, its surrounding hills and the Alps on the North and North West. Also, the marshes of Ljubljansko Barje can be seen on the southern side. The area of Ljubljansko Barje is a protected habitat for birds and for an indigenous turtle species.
